| 摘 要： | 《雇工之死》是一首无韵体叙事诗。强调了同情心和人际关系中相互理解的重要。该诗讲的是一对农家夫妇沃伦和玛丽对待雇工塞拉斯的态度,反映了夫妻二人的性格差异;沃伦是个讲求实效的农夫,起初他反对妻子再一次将塞拉斯收留,因为塞拉斯在农忙季节在别人的高价诱惑下离他们而去;玛丽心地善良,尤其善解人意。富有同情心,体谅到塞拉斯的难处。塞拉斯在故事中始终没有露面,他的性格和境遇完全由夫妻二人的对话表现出来。

| Abstract: | In his poem "The Death of a Hired Man", Robert Frost (1874-1963) describes three major reasons for the different attitudes of Mary and Warren, a couple of striking contrasts,towards the "hired hand," Silas. Also depicted are the two connections Frost makes of Mary with nature.The author of this essay tries to: a) discuss Mary and Warren's differentattitudes toward Silas; b) explain the way in which they are different; c) explain the three specific points with their differences |
