| Abstract: | The determination of the managerial goal, the desired level and priority structure of goal are discussed.An example illustrating the determination of reasonable composition of product assortment in a factory is used to discuss the application of goal programming in aiding managerial decision making. In the mathematical model, several goals such as the production capability, the profit, the demand, the material consumption, the circulating fund, the energy consumption and so on have been considered. By the partitioning algorithm for goal programming (PAGP), the mathematical model has been solved and a satisfiactory solution obtained. The sensitivity analysis of priority structure and desired level of goal has also been carried out with useful conclusions drawn. |
