| 摘 要： | 《他们眼望上苍》中的"骡子"意象内涵丰富,形式多变。它首先代表着主人公悲惨的命运,随后则不仅指代黑人民族的命运,而且喻示整个人类的命运,象征人类普遍受奴役的一种状态。而在"骡子"的死亡和再生之间则蕴含着战胜这种奴役的方法。从"骡子"意象不仅可以看出珍妮是怎样一步步摆脱掉"骡子"的命运,到最后完全把它扬弃,获得作为一个人最大意义上的自主意识,实现了她的也是全人类的自由梦想,而且还可以看出这部小说不仅表现了黑人女性的觉醒,涉及了种族、性别和文化问题,还表现了人类的悲剧命运,流露了作家对整个人类命运严肃的思考。
