Narrative Techniques in The Great Gatsby

F. Scott. Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby is a story which mells that an American dream vanished into the thin air. Narrator Nick was also involved in his own stories. An unrealizable American Dream of a youth was made by the combination of Nick's story and Gatsby’s story. Various kinds of narrative strategies were useed in the story, such as narrative time, narrative situation, the self-experienced viewpoint and the self-narrated viewpoint in the reviewing narration of the first person alternatively. These narrative strategies showed how an beautiful and unsurpassed American dream vanished into thin air.
