| Abstract: | The chess board and its rook polynomial are discussed and the concept of modified rook polynomial are proposed. The connection between the modified rook polynomial of chess board and the chromatic polynomial of the corresponding graph has been obtained while there exist some non-proper cells in the board. This reveals once again the relation between the rook polynomial and chromatic polynomial. By the connection between graph and chess board, a new method for finding out the chromatic polynomial of graph by rook polynomial is described. |
