| Abstract: | An overview of various variational crises and their removal in the variationaltheory of fluid mechanics is presented. The variational crises (such as, some of the Lagrangemultipliers vanish completely) are of its inherent character of Lagrange multiplier method.Various methods of removal of crises are illustrated, they are mainly: (1) preconditioned Lagrangemultiplier method proposed by Liu; (2) higher order Lagrange multiplier method; (3) thesemi - inverse method. |
