Development of a New Large Range Non-contact Dimension Measuring Device

The composition and operation principle of a new large-range non-contact dimension measur ing device are introduced. In the device, a reflective pneumatic sensor is fixed on the slide of numeri cal gallery to compose a measuring and controlling integrated measurement device. It controls the ad vance or recession of the numerical gallery slide according to the gap between the pneumatic sensor and the measured workpiece, and assurances the gap invariant to realize wide range measurement through using narrow range sensor. The theoretical analysis and experimental investigation of the static and dy namic character of the device are presented. The measuring range of this device is 80mm and its error is ± 0.1mm. This device is suitable for non-contact dimension measurement with large measuring range.
