A Commentary on Gillies’s Philosophy of Probability

British philosopher Gillies’s main research areas have been foundations of probability and philosophy of logic and mathematics and he has been studying and carrying out research in the philosophy of probability for more than forty years.In his study on philosophy of probability,Gillies gives a critical examination of the main philosophical interpretations of probability.Gillies’s discussion about the difficulties faced by these interpretations of probability has led him to his most original reflections on the concept of probability.This paper attempts to describe Gillies’s philosophy of probability in broad outline,and give analysis and evaluation of some of his viewpoints.
