从认知语义视角解析一词多义现象

一词多义现象是人类语言的一大特色,但语义学家对一词多义的研究并未形成一致的看法。传统语义学在解释多义词多项意义之间的联系时,虽然作出了自己的贡献,但其研究局限于语言的内部结构,忽略了其底层的认知机制。认知语义学家认为多义现象的产生和理解是通过人类的认知手段,如范畴化、隐喻和转喻机制、概念合成机制等实现的。本文从认知语言学的角度出发,对一词多义现象进行剖析,试图揭示这种语言现象的本质。

A Study of Polysemy from Cognitive Semantics Perspective

The phenomenon of polysemy is a distinct feature of human languages.The study of it has attracted much attention,but semanticists didn t coincide in opinion.While explaining the relations among senses of each polysemous word,traditional semantics has limitation in confining itself to the internal structures of language without taking account of its cognitive mechanism though it has made its own contribution.Cognitive semanticists take a different perspective which views the emergence and comprehension of polysemy as the result of human cognitive vehicles, which include mainly the categorization, metaphor, metonymy and conceptual blending. The three cognitive mechanisms are analyzed specifically this paper in an effort to reveal the nature of polysemy.
