| 摘 要： | "Sin" plays a very important role in the understanding of Hawthorne's "psychological romance"— The Scarlet Letter.The paper introduces the major view that influences him--the Puritan doctrine of "original sin" so as to investigate Hawthorne's own attitudes towards the sin and the effects of sin on the two main characters in the novel.
