| Abstract: | Based on the mechanical analysis, the calculation formula of falling rain drop velocity for any altitude is dedueed theoredically, therefore the terminal velocity is obtained. In order to consider the effect of shape.factor on the fall velocity of drops with a diameter larger than 30mm, the deformation coefficient is introduced. The formula is verified with the data obtained by the authors and other researchers. The calculated results are in good agreement with measured data. The formula can be used to determine the kinematic energy of rain fall and it can also be used in the design of rain fall simulators. |
