Abstract:A freeboard model for coal combustion in pressurized fluidized beds is proposed. The existing modeling for FBC is improved by considering the following four problems. 1.Fly ash has been burnt partially in bed before it goes into freeboard. 2.The size and velocity of fly ash in freeboard are variant. 3.There is a random distribution of particle residence time in bed. 4.Attrition can cause the variation of particle size distribution. The calculated results are in good agreement with the experimental data obtained from a pres- surized fluidized bed combustion facility.
