Summary Methemoglobin was prepared by the addition of sodium nitrite or potassium ferricyanide to oxy or deoxyhemoglobin. The spectral properties of these methemoglobins were studied before and after extensive dialysis. It is shown that the methemoglobin formed by sodium nitrite has substantial spectral differences in visible and Soret band compared to that formed by potassium ferricyanide. These differences are proportional to the excess of sodium nitrite only. A mathematical model has been presented to study the combustion of a single copper concentrate particle with high moisture content. By using the presented model, the effect of particle moisture content on particle temperature, sulfur oxidation, and combustion heat generation has been evaluated. The mineralogical composition of the commonly used concentrate at Khatoonabad flash smelting furnace has been used in this study. It was found that the particle moisture content is removed in the sub-second time range and thus the moisture has marginal impact on the variation of particle temperature and on the reaction rate when the gas temperature is assumed to be constant in the reaction shaft. When a concentrate with high moisture content is charged, the particle size enlargement due to the agglomeration of concentrate particles causes an abrupt fall in the particle reaction rate.  相似文献

The hot compression behavior of AISI 321 austenitic stainless steel was studied at the temperatures of 950–1100℃ and the strain rates of 0.01–1 s?1 using a Baehr DIL-805 deformation dilatometer. The hot deformation equations and the relationship between hot deformation parameters were obtained. It is found that strain rate and deformation temperature significantly influence the flow stress behavior of the steel. The work hardening rate and the peak value of flow stress increase with the decrease of deformation temperature and the increase of strain rate. In addition, the activation energy of deformation (Q) is calculated as 433.343 kJ/mol. The microstructural evolution during deformation indicates that, at the temperature of 950℃ and the strain rate of 0.01 s?1, small circle-like precipitates form along grain boundaries; but at the temperatures above 950℃, the dissolution of such precipitates occurs. Energy-dispersive X-ray analyses indicate that the precipitates are complex carbides of Cr, Fe, Mn, Ni, and Ti.  相似文献

Summary The release of14C-serotonin by ADP, epinephrine and arachidonic acid and the release of ADP by kaolin were measured in normal platelets in the presence and absence of carbon monoxide and in smokers' platelets. It is shown that carbon monoxide inhibits significantly the platelet release reaction. This function is also decreased in platelets obtained from heavy cigarette smokers.This work was supported by Veterans Administration Research Fund 8073-01.  相似文献

Mutations involving gains of glycosylation have been considered rare, and the pathogenic role of the new carbohydrate chains has never been formally established. We identified three children with mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease who were homozygous with respect to a missense mutation in IFNGR2 creating a new N-glycosylation site in the IFNgammaR2 chain. The resulting additional carbohydrate moiety was both necessary and sufficient to abolish the cellular response to IFNgamma. We then searched the Human Gene Mutation Database for potential gain-of-N-glycosylation missense mutations; of 10,047 mutations in 577 genes encoding proteins trafficked through the secretory pathway, we identified 142 candidate mutations ( approximately 1.4%) in 77 genes ( approximately 13.3%). Six mutant proteins bore new N-linked carbohydrate moieties. Thus, an unexpectedly high proportion of mutations that cause human genetic disease might lead to the creation of new N-glycosylation sites. Their pathogenic effects may be a direct consequence of the addition of N-linked carbohydrate.  相似文献

Summary It is suggested that although the high oxygen affinity hemoglobin (Hb LR) (143(H21)HisGln) with stabilization of R quaternary conformation is not more susceptible to the oxidizing effect of nitrites in vitro, in an in vivo situation where hemoglobin is partly deoxygenated, it might be more susceptible to methemoglobin formation due to higher oxidation and lower reduction rate.Supported by NIH grant No. 5 RO1 AM 20181-02 and VA grant No. 5455-002.Acknowledgments.
