Phospholipid composition ofDipylidium caninum

Summary The phospholipid composition ofDipylidium caninum has been studied. Chloroform-methanol-soluble fraction amounted to 2.4% and phospholipids to 0.5% of the wet weight of the parasite. Phosphatidyl choline and phosphatidyl ethanolamine represented the bulk of the phospholipids, whereas phosphatidyl serine, phosphatidyl inositol, lysolecithin and lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine were present in minor amounts. Sulfatides were also identified in this parasite.     

Review of Aeromonas enterotoxins

This report reviews the work of other investigators regarding Aeromonas toxins and describes work conducted in our laboratory relating to the biochemical characterization of a cytolytic factor with an antigenic moiety that cross-reacts with cholera toxin (referred to as CTC-cytolysin), as well as the purification and partial characterization of a non-CTC enterotoxin. These two toxins were produced by Aeromonas hydrophila, isolate SSU, and are capable of causing fluid accumulation in animal models.     

Nanoscale hydrodynamics: enhanced flow in carbon nanotubes

Nanoscale structures that could mimic the selective transport and extraordinarily fast flow possible in biological cellular channels would have a wide range of potential applications. Here we show that liquid flow through a membrane composed of an array of aligned carbon nanotubes is four to five orders of magnitude faster than would be predicted from conventional fluid-flow theory. This high fluid velocity results from an almost frictionless interface at the carbon-nanotube wall.

Baker concorde avec celle qui a été obtenue par interférométrie (12.56 × 10¹² g) avec le nouveau microscope à interférence de Leitz.     

Autoradiographic studies of yolk nucleus in fish oocytes

Résumé L'expulsion de la matière nucléolaire dans les ufs du poisson est étudiée ici par autoradiographie. Employant la cytidine-H₃, nous avons vu que le RNA nucléolaire passe dans le cytoplasme sous forme diffuse, et non comme un nucléole complet appelé « noyau-jaune ».
