Summary The immunoadjuvant activity of muramyl dipeptide seems to be critically dependent on the type of substitution of the -carboxyl group of the D-isoglutamine residue. Moreover the nonapeptide L-Ala-D-isoGlu-L-Lys-D-Ala-(Gly)₅-OME also shows a definite effect.

D-6-Methyl-8-[-isopropylaminoethyl] ergoline-I [VÚFB-10726], beginning from the dose of 0.05 mg/kg p.o., suppresses lactation through the inhibition of prolactin secretion in nursing rats.     

Mutations in ISPD cause Walker-Warburg syndrome and defective glycosylation of α-dystroglycan

Walker-Warburg syndrome (WWS) is an autosomal recessive multisystem disorder characterized by complex eye and brain abnormalities with congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD) and aberrant a-dystroglycan glycosylation. Here we report mutations in the ISPD gene (encoding isoprenoid synthase domain containing) as the second most common cause of WWS. Bacterial IspD is a nucleotidyl transferase belonging to a large glycosyltransferase family, but the role of the orthologous protein in chordates is obscure to date, as this phylum does not have the corresponding non-mevalonate isoprenoid biosynthesis pathway. Knockdown of ispd in zebrafish recapitulates the human WWS phenotype with hydrocephalus, reduced eye size, muscle degeneration and hypoglycosylated a-dystroglycan. These results implicate ISPD in a-dystroglycan glycosylation in maintaining sarcolemma integrity in vertebrates.

Résumé Au cours de la régénération du foie normal des rats, on a constaté une augmentation — statistiquement significative — de l'activité arginasique dans la phase prémitotique. Chez des animaux traités par le phénobarbital, l'activité arginasique augmente encore davantage dans la phase prémitotique du foie régénéré.

Summary Highly active local anaesthetics from the group of basic substituted cyclohexylesters of 2-chloro-, 2, 6-dichloro-, 2-chloro-6-methyl-, 2-methyl-, 2, 6-dimethyl-and 2,4,6-trimethylcarbanilic acid were developed. The substances were tested for local anaesthetic activity in surface anaesthesia.

Zusammenfassung Bei Hunden wurde das aorticorenale Ganglion der linken Seite herausgenommen und die Niereninnervation mit der Silberimprägnations- und der histochemischen Fluoreszenzmethode auf Monoamine nachFalck untersucht. Auf Grund der Degenerationserscheinungen kann geschlossen werden, dass das Ganglion die Nierenarterien, das motorische Nervengeflecht an der Oberfläche der Media, die vasa recta und Nierenbeckenwand mit adrenergischen sympathischen Nervenfasern versorgt.

Mechanisms of sympathetic regulation of arterial smooth muscle

Zusammenfassung Der Wirkungsbereich der Querschnittsregulation der A. dorsalis pedis durch den Sympathikus bei Hunden wurde erfasst und die Relation Reizerfolg-Reizfrequenz durch eine Hyperbel charakterisiert. Mittels Fluoreszenzmethode gewonnene Befunde weisen darauf hin, dass die durch Sympathikusreizung freigesetzen Monoamine zu den nervenfreien Mediaschichten diffundieren.
