Effects of Cr and Mo elements on the microstructures and compressive properties of the in situ (TiC_xN_y–TiB_2)/Ni cermets

In-situ(TiC_xN_y–TiB_2)/Ni cermets with 70 wt%TiC_xN_y–TiB_2 were successfully fabricated by combustion synthesis and hot pressing sintering in Ni-Ti-B_4C-BN powder systems.The microstructures,density,compressive properties,and hardness of the TiC_xN_y–TiB_2/Ni cermets with the addition of 0–8 wt%Cr/Mo to the Ni-Ti-B_4C-BN powder systems were compared and analysed.The results showed that the ceramic particles distributed uniformly in the cermets,and the size of the ceramic particles reduced with the Cr/Mo addition.Both Cr and Mo addition can improve the hardness,compressive properties,and fracture strains of the cermets.The hardness,compressive strength,and fracture strain of the(TiC_xN_y–TiB_2)/(Ni+Cr)cermets increased from 1561 HV,2.94 GPa,and 2.9%to 1864 HV,3.65 GPa,and 3.4%,respectively when the Cr content increased to 5 wt%.The hardness and compressive strength of the(TiC_xN_y–TiB_2)/(Ni+Mo)cermets increased from 1561 HV and 2.94 GPa to 1902 HV and 3.43 GPa,respectively when the Mo content increased to 8 wt%.The cermets with Cr had better compressive properties than the cermets with Mo.     

基于Tesseral2D的水下砂体地震正演计算

基于水下砂层与围岩的波阻抗差异,应用地震波数值模拟软件Tesseral2D建立含有水、粉细砂、砾砂和砾岩的起伏地层模型,在不同的道间距、最小偏移距、子波频率以及不同岩体波速条件下分别对该模型进行正演计算。一般情况下,在震源频率为400 Hz、最小偏移距为5 m、道间距为1 m或2 m时,地震波响应明显、同相轴清晰、干扰波较少,水下地层界面反映良好。进一步结合南京长江第二大桥桥址区的地质资料,建立含有水、淤泥质粉质黏土、粉细砂、砾砂、砂砾卵石和砾岩的水下砂层模型,应用Tesseral2D软件对该模型进行正演研究。结果表明,在震源频率为400 Hz、道间距为2 m以及最小偏移距为5 m时,地震响应能很好地反映水下各岩层界面,特别是能较明显地圈定水下砂层的厚度和分布范围,为实际水下砂体的地震勘探提供理论依据。     

Effect of Ce addition on hot tearing behavior of AZ91 alloy

A small amount of cerium (below 1.0 wt%) addition to AZ91 alloy have been investigated on the hot tearing susceptibility (HTS) at a cooling rate of 1.5Ks^?1. The HTS increased to a maximum value with a cerium addition of 0.6 wt% and then decreased to a stable status as cerium was gradually added. Due to high chemical activity, cerium into the melts can react with aluminum to form an Al₁₁Ce₃ intermetallic compound. X–ray diffraction results also confirmed the existence of Al₁₁Ce₃. The Al₁₁Ce₃ increased with the presence of the needle-like and block morphology. As cerium levels increased, the amount of Mg₁₇Al₁₂ decreased. The variations between Mg₁₇Al₁₂ and Al₁₁Ce₃ resulted in a similar normal distribution of the HTS in AZ91 alloy. The findings were further verified through the microstructure evolution and the surface morphology of fracture.

Varieties of noise: Analogical reasoning in synthetic biology

The picture of synthetic biology as a kind of engineering science has largely created the public understanding of this novel field, covering both its promises and risks. In this paper, we will argue that the actual situation is more nuanced and complex. Synthetic biology is a highly interdisciplinary field of research located at the interface of physics, chemistry, biology, and computational science. All of these fields provide concepts, metaphors, mathematical tools, and models, which are typically utilized by synthetic biologists by drawing analogies between the different fields of inquiry. We will study analogical reasoning in synthetic biology through the emergence of the functional meaning of noise, which marks an important shift in how engineering concepts are employed in this field. The notion of noise serves also to highlight the differences between the two branches of synthetic biology: the basic science-oriented branch and the engineering-oriented branch, which differ from each other in the way they draw analogies to various other fields of study. Moreover, we show that fixing the mapping between a source domain and the target domain seems not to be the goal of analogical reasoning in actual scientific practice.     

构建《矿物岩石学》的“核特色”课程教学新体系

当前,我国地质学专业的人才培养与核工业发展紧密相连,该文针对南华大学资源勘查工程专业《矿物岩石学》课程教学改革进行了探索.提出立足本校核特色,加强实践环节,创建核特色《矿物岩石学》野外教学实习基地,完善考试制度等措施,从而达到构建《矿物岩石学》的“核特色”课程教学新体系设想.
