Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass beim Sheehan-Syndrom, trotz herabgesetzter Kalorienzufuhr, im Urin die fettmobilisierende Substanz (Chalmers) fehlt. Bei Akromegalie, teilweise auch beim Diabetes erwies sich der Urinextrakt bei normaler Di?t als aktiv. Eine gleichzeitige Insulinzufuhr verhinderte die fettmobilisierende Wirkung.

The presence of an oximino group on the methylene of the (2-aminothiazol 4-yl)-acetyl side chain bound to the 7-amino cephalosporanic acid affords derivatives with syn or anti configuration. Whereas the anti isomers display low antibiotic activities, the syn isomers possess a surprising high efficiency against gram negative bacteria, enhanced a factor of 10 to 100 as compared with the cephalosporins known at the moment.     

Attempt at activating mouse intracisternal type A particles by iododeoxyuridine and dexamethasone]

In this study we have compared the effects of Iododeoxyridine (IUdR) and dexamethasone on different Mouse cell lines to determine any differences in their actions on intracisternal A-type particles (IAP). Among the nine cell lines studied only four responded to IUdR stimulation by a subsequent augmentation of IAP. No similar activating effect was detected with dexamethasome treatment.     

Tumour biology: senescence in premalignant tumours

Oncogene-induced senescence is a cellular response that may be crucial for protection against cancer development, but its investigation has so far been restricted to cultured cells that have been manipulated to overexpress an oncogene. Here we analyse tumours initiated by an endogenous oncogene, ras, and show that senescent cells exist in premalignant tumours but not in malignant ones. Senescence is therefore a defining feature of premalignant tumours that could prove valuable in the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer.
