Zur Biosynthese der C9–10-Einheit der Indolalkaloide

Summary After administration of various C₂-compounds as well as leucine-2-¹⁴C toCatharanthus roseus shoots and glycine-2-¹⁴C toStrychnos nux vomica plants no specific incorporation into the non-tryptophan C_9–10 moiety of indole alkaloids was observed. The results indicate that glycine-2-¹⁴C is transformed into serine and is incorporated via tryptophan into strychnine.     

Fixation of enzyme protein in soil by the clay mineral montmorillonite

Zusammenfassung Aminosäureverbindungen, die im Boden während des biologischen Abbaus von Kohlehydraten gebildet und vom Tonmineral Montmorillonit stabilisiert werden, haben Enzymcharakter und sind folglich Proteine.     

Enrichment of CO2 and magnesium in early stages of biomineralization

Summary Simultaneous topochemical analyses of calcium, magnesium, carbonate (as CO₂) and phosphorus in a mineralizing collagen rich system (turkey tibia tendon) showed a strong enrichment of Mg and CO₂ in the prestages of biomineralization.We thank the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft for support and Mr E. Cholinesterase in human salivary glands

Zusammenfassung Operativ frisch entnommene menschliche Speicheldrüsen (Submaxillaris und Parotis) zeigen Cholinesteraseaktivität. Hauptsächlich werden spezifische Esterasen gefunden. Die Aktivität der männlichen Parotis ist höher als die der weiblichen. Letztere zeigt eine Aktivitätsabnahme mit zunehmendem Alter.     

Zur Kenntnis der «Keller-Reaktion» und ihre Anwendung zur spektrophotometrischen Bestimmung von Indolen

Summary A spectrophotometric method suitable for quantitative estimation of indole compounds is described. The correlation is discussed between this colour test, derived from the ?Keller-reaction?, and the ?Hopkins-Cole-reaction?.      

Radioprotective and haemopoietic effects of some lipopolysaccharides from Rhodospirillaceae species in mice

Summary Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) from variousRhodopseudomonas andRhodospirillum species were tested for their radioprotective efficiency against X-irradiation and for their influence on the growth of spleen colony forming units (CFU-s) in mice. The LPS fromRhodopseudomonas gelatinosa Dr₂ gave a high survival rate. It also favoured CFU-s formation and erythroid differentiation.     

Short adrenergic neurons innervating the female urethra of the cat

Zusammenfassung Die adrenergische Innervation der weiblichen Urethra bei der Katze wird mit Hilfe fluoreszenzmikroskopischer Technik dargestellt. Adrenergische Ganglien in der proximalen Urethra bestreiten den Hauptanteil der urethralen adrenergischen Innervation (kurze Neurone). Ein Drittel der adrenergischen Bahnen stammen aus dem Nervus hypogastricus.

Zur kompensatorischen Nierenregeneration. Autoradiographische Untersuchungen nach3H-Thymidin-Dauerinfusion

Summary By continuous infusion of³H-thymidine, autoradiographic studies were performed to compare cellular proliferation in the compensatory regenerating kidney of rats after contralateral nephrectomy or contralateral temporal (1 h) ischaemia with physiological cell renewal in controls. Under each experimental condition, the highest labelling index is observed within the stratum labyrinthicum and then a gradual decrease occurs from there to the stratum subcorticale, zona intermedia and basalis. As to the topic of DNA synthesizing cells in the different zones of the kidney, there are only quantitative differences between physiological cell renewal of the controls and compensatory regeneration following contralateral nephrectomy and contralateral ischaemia.

The development of the amylase activity in blood and its behaviour in the amniotic fluid in rats

Zusammenfassung Die Amylaseaktivität im Blut von Wistarratten steigt bis zum Ende der Säugeperiode an. In der Amnionflüssigkeit fehlt sie zunächst, nimmt oberhalb eines Fötalgewichtes von 2 g auf ein Vielfaches der Blutwerte zu und fällt mit schwindender Amnionflüssigkeit am Ende der Gravidität stark ab.     

Spinal cord tissue cultures-a model for autoradiographic studies on uptake of putative neurotransmitters such as glycine and GABA

Zusammenfassung Autoradiographische Untersuchungen haben gezeigt, dass³H-Glycin und³H-GABA in kultivierte Neurone und Gliazellen des Rückenmarks der Ratte aufgenommen werden. Aus unseren licht- und elektronenmikroskopischen Befunden geht hervor, dass die Nervengewebskultur ein geeignetes Versuchsmodell für Aufnahme und zelluläre Lokalisation von Überträgersubstanzen ist.
