Zusammenfassung Es wurde ein neues Indolsubstrat für die histochemische Demonstration von alkalischer RNase II und saurer RNase II synthetisiert. Dieses Verfahren ist besser, schneller und präziser als die bisherigen Kupplungstechniken.

Control,exploitation and tolerance of intracellular noise

Noise has many roles in biological function, including generation of errors in DNA replication leading to mutation and evolution, noise-driven divergence of cell fates, noise-induced amplification of signals, and maintenance of the quantitative individuality of cells. Yet there is order to the behaviour and development of cells. They operate within strict parameters and in many cases this behaviour seems robust, implying that noise is largely filtered by the system. How can we explain the use, rejection and sensitivity to noise that is found in biological systems? An exploration of the sources and consequences of noise calls for the use of stochastic models.

Zusammenfassung Die Isoenzyme der -GPDH lassen bei diploiden (Hering, Stint) und tetraploiden (Regenbogen-, Bachforelle) Fischen der OrdnungIsospondyli auf jeweils 3 verschiedene Genloci schliessen. Die stammesgeschichtlichen Beziehungen zwischen den verschiedenen Untereinheiten werden kurz diskutiert.

Molecular biological methods in the diagnosis of viral disease

Molecular biology allowed considerable improvements in diagnostic procedures by production of new and more specific sonds for the detection of traces of viruses, both on the nucleic acid and protein levels, and by determining the immune response of the host to specific antigens. Improvements in sensitivity and improved correlation to the stage of viral disease are already evident from several applications and strongly suggest a broad application of these approaches.
