Résumé La diphénylhydantoïne agit sur la face externe de la peau de grenouille en provoquant une augmentation de la différence de potentiel et du courant de court circuit. L'effet est rapide, soutenu et réversible. Des interactions entre DPH, ocytocine, amiloride et amphotéricine B ont été étudiées.     

Influence of sex on the urinary bilirubin excretion at increased free plasma haemoglobin levels in whole dogs and in isolated normothermic perfused dog kidneys

Résumé Si le taux sanguin en hémoglobine libre dépasse les 50 mg/100 ml, l'excrétion rénale de la bilirubine est fortement augmentée chez le chien, tandis qu'elle reste faible chez la chienne. Les mêmes résultats sont obtenues par perfusion de reins isolés avec du sang hépariné ou défibriné.

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass in den Leydig'schen Zwischenzellen die Reink'schen Kristalle auch im Zellkern vorkommen und darauf hingewiesen, dass eine Modifikation des Zellkernstoffwechsels zu diesen Bildungen führen könnte.

Inhibition of post-hemicastration hypertrophy of the remaining testis by testosterone or aqueous testicular extract treatments in the young rat]

In the 10 day old hemicastrated Rat daily injections of testosterone (total doses of 0.04 to 4 mg/Rat) or of proteinaceous extract of Rat testis (4 mg/Rat) inhibit compensatory hypertrophy of the remaining testis. Both testosterone and testicular proteinaceous extract could be involved in the growing processes of the testis, locally or by means of modification of gonadotropin secretion. Results have been analysed by covariance analysis to eliminate the influence of body weight variations.     

Evolution of anti-Rh antibodies idiotypy in a blood donor over 9 years]

Anti-idiotypic sera were obtained in Rabbits immunized with Rh antibodies (isolated from the serum sample collected in 1974 from a Blood Donor). The sera agglutinate, at high titers, red cells coated with the immunizing antibodies and, at different titers, cells coated with antibodies from serum samples taken at other periods. Inhibition of hemagglutination of anti-idiotypic sera by different samples from the same Donor was complete with the immunizing serum and partial with other samples. These results show that idiotypes or idiotypic specificities appeared or disappeared during the period studied and represent the first observation on evolution of antibody idiotypy in Man.     

A putative second cell-derived oncogene of the avian leukaemia retrovirus E26

The acute avian leukaemia retroviruses AMV and E26 both induce myeloblastosis in vivo and transform myeloblasts in vitro. Both viruses contain the oncogene v-myb first described for AMV. Unlike AMV, E26 has the additional capacity to induce erythroblastosis in vivo and to transform erythroblasts. Previous analyses indicated that the genome of E26 also contained nucleotide sequences distinct from v-myb and unrelated to viral replicative genes. Using a molecularly cloned E26 provirus, we have now identified a novel nucleotide sequence designated v-ets (for E-twenty-six specific) of approximately 1.5 kilobase pairs (kbp) located next to v-myb. v-ets possesses all the structural characteristics of a putative new oncogene: it has a conserved cellular counterpart c-ets which is transcribed in some normal chicken cells as a major 7.5-kb polyadenylated RNA. Although our results now await elucidation of their biological significance, we propose that v-ets could be a new oncogene accounting for the additional transforming properties of E26, or potentiating the transforming properties of the v-myb oncogene.
