Mixing matrix estimation of underdetermined blind source separation based on the linear aggregation characteristic of observation signals

Under the underdetermined blind sources separation ( UBSS) circumstance, it is difficult to es-timate the mixing matrix with high-precision because of unknown sparsity of signals.The mixing ma-trix estimation is proposed based on linear aggregation degree of signal scatter plot without knowing sparsity, and the linear aggregation degree evaluation of observed signals is presented which obeys generalized Gaussian distribution ( GGD) .Both the GGD shape parameter and the signals’ correla-tion features affect the observation signals sparsity and further affected the directionality of time-fre-quency scatter plot.So a new mixing matrix estimation method is proposed for different sparsity de-grees, which especially focuses on unclear directionality of scatter plot and weak linear aggregation degree.Firstly, the direction of coefficient scatter plot by time-frequency transform is improved and then the single source coefficients in the case of weak linear clustering is processed finally the im-proved K-means clustering is applied to achieve the estimation of mixing matrix.The proposed algo-rithm reduces the requirements of signals sparsity and independence, and the mixing matrix can be estimated with high accuracy.The simulation results show the feasibility and effectiveness of the al-gorithm.     

Modeling of Mechanical Behavior of Fractal Rock Joint

The present study shows that naturally developed fracture surfaces in rocks display the properties of self-affine fractals. Surface roughness can be quantitatively characterized by fractal dimension D and the intercept A on the log-log plot of variance: the former describes the irregularity and the later is statistically analogues to the slopes of asperities. In order to confirm the effects of these fractal parameters on the properties and mechanical behavior of rock joints, which have been observed in experiments under both normal and shear loadings, a theoretic model of rock joint is proposed on the basis of contact mechanics. The shape of asperity at contact is assumed to have a sinusoidal form in its representative scale r_c with fractal dimension D and the intercept A. The model considers different local contact mechanisms, such as elastic deformation, frictional sliding and tensile fracture of the asperity. The empirical evolution law of surface damage developed in experiment is implemented into the model to up-date geometry of asperity in loading history. The effects of surface roughness characterized by D, A and r_c on normal and shear deformation of rock joint have been elaborated.     

Crystallization kinetics of （Ni0.75 Fe0.25）78-xNbxSi10B12 （ x = 0, 5 ） amorphous alloys

Amorphous ribbons of （Ni0.75 Fe0.25 ） 78- x Nbx Silo B12 （x = 0, 5 ） were prepared by a single roller melt-spinning technique in air atmosphere. The crystallization kinetics of the alloys were investigated by means of continuous heating, and the activation energies of the alloys were calculated using Kissinger plot method and Ozawa plot method on the basis of differential thermal analysis data.

Stepwise prediction and statistical screening:B-cell epitopes on neuraminidase of human avian H_5N_1 virus

The B-cell epitopes of virus are associated with the antiviral drug and the vaccine screening. As the nucleotide sequences of neuraminidase (NA) of stain GD-01-06 were sequenced, we predicted the α-helix and β-fold structure and the indexes of the flexible regions of secondary structure of NA with methods of the Hydrophilicity plot by Kyte-Doolittle, the Surface probability plot by Emini and the Antigenic index by Jameson-Wolf, and then screened statistically the parameters to predict B-cell epitopes by the Hierarchical cluster and the Bivariate correlation and the quartiles with SPSS 13.0. The impact of variation of amino acids in NA on its epitopes was analyzed. The predictive results were evaluated by Wu’s Antigenic Index and SWISS-MODEL. We found that the most possible epitopes on NA were located within or nearby its N-terminal Nos. 120―137, 81―84, 408―415, 273―282, 429―432, 356―368, 46―55, 146―155, 341―350 and 198―209, which were the dominant regions of NA epitopes. Peptide 120―137 including the glycoprotein domain (NGT126―128) was first chosen as the B-cell epitopes on NA. NA in H5N1 strain isolated after 2003 lacked in No. 53 amino acid (I), resulting in an increase in the surface flexible region of NA in GD-01-06 and an enlargement to their epitope regions (VEP46―48→ VEPISNTNFL46―55). Conclusively, prediction of the B-cell epitopes on the NA based on multiple parameters is useful for researches on the molecular immunology and drug screening and immuno-prophylaxis. A deletion of No. 53 amino acid (I) in NA in strain GD-01-06 might increase its antigenicity.

AlGaInAs multi-quantum wells ring laser with optical coupling waveguides

Based on InAIGaAs multi-quantum wells epitaxy structure for Fabry-Pero laser diode, a multi-quantum wells semiconductor ring laser is realized using ICP dry etching process and polyimide planarization process, The laser is generated in a semiconductor resonator ring and is output by two coupled integrated bus waveguides. The ring diameter is 700μm and the width of the waveguide is 3 μm. The output optical power-current （P-I） characteristic and the wavelength spectra of the ring laser are measured using a fiber coupled to the cleaved facet of the bus waveguide. The threshold current of the device is 120 mA and the wavelength is 1602 nm at an injected current of 160 mA. In addition, the operation mode for the laser in the resonator ring is roughly discussed based on the P- I characteristic plot.

Impedance Studies on Starch-NH_4NO_3 Films

1 Results Starch is considered a suitable source material because of its inherent biodegradability,ready viability and relatively low cost[1].In the present work,polymer electrolytes based on starch have been prepared by the solution cast technique.The conductivity of the films is characterized using impedance spectroscopy at room temperatures.The imaginary impedance (Zi) versus real impedance (ZR) plot of pure starch films consists of a semicircle.The bulk resistance (Rb) was taken from the intercept on the real axis at the higher frequency side and the calculated value of electrical conductivity is 6.28×10-10 S·cm-1.The value of Rb for the salted film is smaller compared to that obtained for the pure starch film.This implies that the conductivity has increased with addition of salt to 3.93×10-5 S·cm-1 for the film containing 25 wt.% salts.Samples prepared with greater than 30 wt.% of NH4NO3,did not result in good quality films.The plot of conductivity versus concentration of NH4NO3 is shown in Fig.1.The Rice and Roth model was used to calculate the number density of mobile ions.Mobility and diffusion coefficients of the systems were also calculated using appropriate equations.
