1 Results A novel chiral hydroxysulfonamides,which have hydroxysulfonamide structures,are designed and synthesized from natural camphor.It has been studied for the application as chiral catalyst.This class of ligands can be used in many reactions that are catalysed by amino alcohol ligands.In this paper,we prepared a novel chiral hydroxysulfonamides by immobilization of on MMT modified by γ-aminopropyltriethoxysilane.The MMT was first pretreated with hydrochloric acid according to a reported patent[1]. ...     

Tone-3 Accent Realization in Short Chinese Sentences

To investigate how a low tone （tone-3, T3） syllable in Chinese can be perceived to be focal accented or not, a total of 156 sentences containing tone-3 words were synthesized and used as stimuli in a perceptual study. The sentences differed in the falling value between the two high pitches, and in the duration and phonation types of the T3 syllables. Thirty-nine subjects were asked to judge where the focus or accent was for each sentence. The results show that at least three degrees of pitch drop are involved in the focus recognition： a big sized drop of about 10 semitones; a middle sized drop of about 6 semitones; a small sized drop of about 2 semitones. The results suggest that the three sizes of pitch drop have different indications in Chinese intonation, depending on both the tone and the tone combination. In perception, there are various ways to realize tone-3 focus in the Tx-T3-Ty sentences series, but in production or for text-to-speech synthesis, the rule simply is making a middle sized pitch drop with a long and creaky T3 syllable. Similarly, to focus on the low tone syllable in the T3-Tx-Ty sentences, a creaky T3 syllable is essential. However, a long T3 syllable is a strong determinant for a low tone focus in the Tx-Ty-T3 sentences.

An Analysis of the Novel Sister Carrie from a Group of Constrasted Ideas

There are a series of constrasted ideas which appear again and again throughout the novel.The constrast between the world of women and the world of men,the constrast between individual and society,the contradictory individual.Through these constrasted ideas,we can find at the end of 19th century,westernpeople are undergoing a process of spiritual lost after achieving material succees,therefore,Dreiser just express the universal concern for the common problem before the whole human being.     

A preliminary study of context and translation

As we know when we do translation we must know the meaning of every word or phrase first and then translate them.But translation is not as simple as just translate English into Chinese or Chinese into English,and we couldn't know the exact meaning until we consider those words,phrases or even sentences in a specific context.Now you may be eager to know the relationship between translation and context and what context is.So in this paper I will make a brief introduction about it.In this paper I classify context into two groups: context of situation and context of culture.Then I will give a detailed introduction about the influences of context on translating.The English translator and theorist Peter Newmark had said:"a common mistake is to ignore context.A not uncommon mistake is to make context the excuse for inaccurate translation".In the last chapter I will discuss the function of context in translation,how to find useful information from context and make it serve for translating better.     

A novel method for solving the multiple traveling salesmen problem with multiple depots

Multi-traveling salesman problem(MTSP) is an extension of traveling salesman problem,which is a famous NP hard problem,and can be used to solve many real world problems,such as railway transportation,routing and pipeline laying.In this paper,we analyze the general properties of MTSP,and find that the multiple depots and closed paths in the graph is a big issue for MTSP.Thus,a novel method is presented to solve it.We transform a complicated graph into a simplified one firstly,then an effective algorithm is proposed to solve the MTSP based on the simplified results.In addition,we also propose a method to optimize the general results by using 2-OPT.Simulation results show that our method can find the global solution for MTSP efficiently.     

Nationalism Reflected in Barometer Rising

Hugh MacLennan is a famous Canadian novelist and essayist. In his long literary career, he wrote a great number of works and gained many literary honors. But above all, he is a writer, focusing on national issues of Canada, which is well demonstrated by his first novel-Barometer Rising, in which nationalism abounds. This paper covers three parts. Chapter one is mainly about Hugh MacLennan, his first work Barometer RAsing as well as the introduction to nationalism and MacLennan＇s contribution in fiction in this respect. Chapter two focuses on nationalism in his first novel. The last chapter is the conclusion part in which we know that well awakened, the Canadians are striving to pursue their real independence and stares on the international stage.

It is universally read from its magnificent opening sentence to the end and we can feel its author is great and the novel is well constructed. A solution for concurrency control and long transaction management in SDBMS

The problem of long transactions is a significant problem in spatial database. The checkout mechanism and multi-version mechanism are two kind methods of solving the problem of long transactions. In this paper,we present a Shallow Version Management mechanism to realize multi-version mechanism in spatial database. And we introduced a increment storage and dynamic version views building method to improve efficiency of storing and consulting. We also illuminate how to resolve the problem of long transaction concurrency contrrl in spatial database by using multi-version mechanism. At the end of this paper,we introduce some required means like converge,compress and delete.     

A stress-rifting origin of Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is a massive rift in the Colorado Plateau. How and when it developed has been debated for nearly 150 years. Most geologists believe the unusual landscape was primarily shaped by water erosion.Here we propose a stress-rifting model to provide an alternative explanation for the origin of Grand Canyon.This paper adopts a brittle–ductile double layer model to simulate the deformation and rifting of the plateau due to the mantle-melting-induced expansion. Our results show that the uplift induced by thermal expansion and its associated horizontal extension can cause open fractures that extend from the brittle surface to the underlying ductile layer in a top-down way. In addition, we find that episodic uplift can deepen and connect multiple fractures together to form a larger fracture network. Our findings suggest that the formation of the Grand Canyon might have been driven by plateau uplift and its associated rifting under crustal extension, wherein water erosion played only a minor role in shaping the course of the Colorado River. The new paradigm provides simpler explanations to some of the long-standing geological mysteries surrounding the canyon.

Hedge Trimmer句子压缩技术的算法实现及改进

压缩技术旨在模拟人类的文本概括和信息提取能力。句子压缩技术是自动生成能够保留原句核心内容的,合乎语法的,语义连贯的简短句子。文章分析了英文句子压缩技术中基于句法分析的Hedge Trimmer压缩技术,讨论了相关压缩理论,探索其压缩过程并用类C语言进行算法实现。提出了好的压缩句应该至少满足以下3个标准：第一是保留原句的核心内容,第二是具有正确的语法,第三是压缩长度合理。在算法的评估工作中,从DUC 2003语料库中选取了624个原始句子和对应的人工压缩句,与Hedge Trimmer压缩算法自动生成的压缩句进行对照分析。发现5种压缩效果不理想的情况,分析其原因并提出了改进策略。最后,通过实例对改进算法生成的压缩句和原来算法生成的压缩句进行对比评估,证明了改良算法能够获得更理想的压缩句。在英文句子压缩领域,改良的Hedge Trimmer句子压缩算法值得推广和应用。
