Zusammenfassung Die Synthese von (—)-¹⁽⁷⁾-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) auf (—)-¹⁽⁶⁾ wird beschrieben. Das Hauptprodukt der oxidativen Zerstörung von (—)-¹-THC ist Cannabinol. Beschleunigte Versuche der Luftoxidation von (—)-¹-THC und (—)-¹⁽⁶⁾-THC haben gezeigt, dass das letztere beständiger ist. Dieser Unterschied kann mit der Reaktivität des C₃-benzylisch-allylischen Wasserstoffes in (—)-¹-THC erklärt werden.

Summary Oral administration to man of 20 mg ¹1-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) together with placebo or 40 mg cannabinol (CBN) or 40 mg cannabidiol (CBD) gave evidence of a possible limited interaction of THC with CBN but not with CBD as indicated by average plasma THC levels. Peak CBD and CBN concentrations were similar to that of THC, viz. about 5–8 ng/ml.Supported by the Swedish Medical Research Council and grant MH-00424 from the Veterans Administration.     

Changes in rat erythrocyte membrane induced byΔ 1-tetrahydrocannabinol,scanning electron microscope study

Summary Although some biochemical dose-dependent effects are revealed in erythrocytes exposed to ¹ (THC) already at concentrations well below 10 M, marked morphological changes of the erythrocyte membrane become evident, by scanning electron microscopy, only at THC concentrations beyound 15 M. These observations provide evidence additional to previous chemical and physical studies, in which 15 M is found to be a critical concentration with respect to the effects of TCH on erythrocyte membrane.Acknowledgments. A major metabolite of Δ1-tetrahydrocannabinol reduces its cataleptic effect in mice

Summary The results described here demonstrate that THC-induced catalepsy in mice can be substantially inhibited by the prior administration of ¹-THC-7-oic acid, the major metabolite of THC in most species including humans. This raises the possibility that the intensity and duration of action of THC may depend to a large degree on the levels of this metabolite at the sites of action.We thank the National Institute on Drug Abuse for supporting this project by grants DA-02043 and DA-02052 and for supplying all of the cannabinoids. A comparison of the pharmacological activity in man of intravenously administered 1368-11368-11368-1, cannabinol,and cannabidiol

Resumen Se hizo un estudio comparativo de la actividad del ⁹-tetrahidrocannabinol, cannabinol, y cannabidiol en producir efectos similares a la marihuana cuando son inyectados i.v. a humanos. Estas substancias son los componentes predominantes de la marihuana o del hashish. Se encontro que a las dosis inyectados cannabidiol no tiene ninguna potencia, y que cannabinol es capaz de producir efectos tipicos de la marihuana, aunque a dosis varias veces mas grandes que las del ⁹-tetrahidrocannabinol.     

Interaction of chloramphenicol and 181-1181-1181-1in barbital-anesthetized mice

Résumé L'augmentation de l'anesthésie produite par le barbital chez la souris traitée au ¹-tétrahydrocannabinol ( ¹-THC) à 10 ou 20 mg/kg par voie i.p. est accentuée d'une manière significative par le traitement préalable au chloramphénicol (CHPC) à 100 mg/kg, mais non pas par 50 mg/kg de ce composé injecté par voie i.p. Le CHPC seul n'a aucun effet. Le CHPC étant un inhibiteur des systèmes enzymatiques des microsomes hépatiques, on en a conclu que l'effet du ¹-THC sur le prolongement de la durée du sommeil au barbital est dû au composé parent plutôt qu'à l'un des produits de transformation biologique.     

Mutagenicity testing of 3 hallucinogens: LSD,psilocybin and‡ 9-THC using the micronucleus test

Summary Using the micronucleus test as a screening method for mutagenic activity, no significant increase in the number of micronuclei was found when LSD, psilocybin or ⁹-THC were administered in 3 logarithmically increasing doses to mice. Azathioprine (Imuran^®), given as a positive control, caused a statistically significant increase in micronucleated cells.Acknowledgment. Chronopharmacology ofΔ 9-tetrahydrocannabinol hypothermia in mice

Résumé La température rectale de souris ayant subi une unique injection de ⁹THC (injection administrée soit le matin, soit l'après-midi, ou soit durant la nuit) a été mesurée 1, 2 et 4 h suivant cette injection. Chez les animaux, injectés l'après-midi, l'abaissement de température était maximal, mais il fut minimal chez les animaux injectés de nuit.

Summary The urinary protein _2u stimulates adrenal ⁵-3 dehydrogenase activity and prevents adrenal enlargement in estrogen-treated adult male rats.Acknowledgements. Effect of 723-1723-1723-1on ethanol withdrawal in mice

Summary ⁹ (10 mg/kg, i.p.) administered to mice immediately after withdrawal from a 3-day exposure to ethanol vapor was found to intensify withdrawal reactions. No effect was seen when ⁹ was administered chronically during the exposure to ethanol.     

A one-step synthesis of (-)-Δ1-Tetrahydrocannabinol from chrysanthenol

Riassunto È stata studiata 1'azione del reattivo di Vilsmeier-Haack su 3-cicloetilendiossi- ⁵-steroidi appartenenti ai corticoidi; è stata così ottenuta una scrie di 3-(2-cloroetossi)-6-formil- ^3,5-pregnadieni, alcuni dei quali hanno mostrato notevoli proprietà antiinfiammatorie con una netta dissociazione dell'attività per somministrazione locale e somministrazione sistemica.     

(−)-Δ8-tetrahydrocannabinol: Two novel in vitro metabolites

Zusammenfassung (–)-⁸-Tetrahydrocannabinol ist einer der Aktivstoffe in Marihuana (Cannabis sativa L.). Inkubation dieser Verbindung mit der überstehenden Zentrifugationsfraktion (9000g) aus männlicher Hundeleber ergab zwei Hauptmetaboliten, welche durch Massenspektrometrie und Kernresonanzspektroskopie identifiziert wurden. Den beiden Verbindungen werden die Strukturen des 1-Hydroxy-⁸-tetrahydrocannabinols und des 3-Hydroxy-⁸-tetrahydrocannabinols zugeordnet.     

C19- and C18-steroids in cerebrospinal fluid,plasma and urine after intravenous administration of 7α-3H-DHEA35S-sulphate

Zusammenfassung Nach i.v. Injektion von 7-H-DHEA-³⁶S-sulfat wurden Liquor, Plasma und 24-Stundenharn eines Mannes auf freie und konjugierte, markierte C₁₉- und C₁₈-Steroide untersucht. Es zeigte sich, dass schon 30 Minuten nach Versuchsbeginn im Liquor fast nur doppelt-markierte Steroid-sulfatide mit praktisch unverändertem Isotopenverhältnis³H/³⁵S enthalten waren. Da weiterhin DHEA und seine Metaboliten im Liquor eine weitaus niedrigere spezifische³H-Aktivität besassen als die entsprechenden Verbindungen im Plasma, ist anzunehmen, dass der Übertritt von lipophilen Steroid-sulfatiden zwar verhältnismässig rasch, aber nur in begrenztem Umfang erfolgte.

Zusammenfassung Nach in-vivo-Perfusion eines menschlichen Ovars mit 4-¹⁴C-DHEA und 7-³H-DHEA-³⁵S-sulfat lagen rund 15% der freien C₁₉- und C₁₈-steroide im Ovarialvenenblut als³H- und 85% als¹⁴C-markierte Verbindungen vor. Die Fraktion der sulfokonjugierten Steroide, bestehend aus 60% Steroidsulfatiden und 40% Steroidsulfaten, enthielt etwa 69% doppeltmarkierte, 27%³H- und 4%¹⁴C-markierte Sulfokonjugate. Neben dem vorzugsweise direkten Metabolismus des sulfokonjugierten DHEA liess sich auch ein indirekter Stoffwechsel zu Androgenen und Östrogenen nachweisen.

Sequential appearance of α, β, and γ-crystallins in embryonic and metamorphicRana pipiens

Zusammenfassung Immunelektrophoretische und Immundiffusions-Studien zeigen, dass die Linse vonRana pipiens während der Entwicklung (Embryonal-Stadium 25 nachShumway) -und -kristalline Substanzen enthalten. Diese und frühere Ergebnisse¹⁰ sprechen dafür, dass beide Substanzen gleichzeitig auftreten, und beweisen, dass -kristalline Substanzen in diesem Entwicklungsstadium alleine im Linsenepithel vorkommen, während die Kristalline die am spätesten nachweisbaren linsenspezifischen Proteine (Taylor-Kollros-Metamorphosestadium VI) in der Linsenentwicklung vonR. pipiens sind.     

Total synthesis of derivatives of (±)-6-oxa and aza-estrone

Zusammenfassung Es wird über die Totalsynthese von verschiedenen Derivaten des (±)-6-Oxa- und Aza-Östrons und die Umwandlung von (±)-17-Oxy-3-methoxy-6-oxa-östratrien-1, 3, 5¹⁰ zu Verbindungen der (±)-19-Nor-6-oxa-testosteron-Klasse berichtet. Die biologische Wirksamkeit der Glieder in der 6-Oxa-Reihe wird beschrieben.     

Studies on hydrogen,halides and thiocyanate ions in dioxane-water mixtures at various temperatures

Summary The free enrgies of transfer (G _t ⁰ ) of H⁺, Cl^–, Br^–, I^– and SCN^– ions from water to 10, 20, 30 and 40% dioxanewater mixtures have been studied from potentiometric measurements. For anions the G _t ⁰ values are in the order Cl^–>Br^–>SCN^–>I^–.
