When Rat uterus was incubated at 37 degrees with estradiol-7 alpha-butyric acid (OII-7 alpha-bu), no interference was observed with the intracellular estradiol receptors. In addition, OII-7 alpha-bu did not display estrogenic effect such as in vivo inhibition of LH secretion in Rat and in vitro increased activity of the enzyme ornithine-decarboxylase in the chick oviduct. Contrary to these negative findings, we have observed preoptic and septal cells in the guinea pig where micro-iontophoresis of OII-7 alpha-bu triggers changes of the electric activity within a second. We submit therefore, that this latter response is due to an interaction between the acid estrogen and the neuron membrane.  相似文献

The intracardiac injection (50 microgram/g) of GABA to Carps clearly inhibits the rise of the plasma cortisol level which occurs usually in response to the blood sampling manipulations. The inhibition starts thirty minutes after injection and lasts till the end of the experiment two hours later. Summary In the electron-microscopic picture of the epileptogenic cobalt-gelatine necrosis in the cerebral cortex of the rat 14 days after operation, a massive plasmatic infiltration of the intercellular space, with destruction of the astrocytic processes, was found. Summary By means of their special histological method, the storage of plasma proteins in the histiocytes was studied by the authors in rats and mice. If injected subcutaneously, both homologous and heterologous serum proteins were stored to the same extent at the site of the injection by the histiocytes of the connective tissue.After smearing the skin with histamine or after subcutaneous injection of histamine, intensive storage of protein occurs locally in the histiocytes. Because of the effect of histamine increasing permeability, these cells accumulate in their body the plasma proteins abundantly escaping from the blood stream.Even under physiological conditions, plasma proteins are constantly taken up and destroyed by the reticuloendothelial cells and this function has a fundamental biological importance.  相似文献

Summary The authors studied the lesions observed in the rectal and vaginal smears of the rat after a local irradiation of the rectum. They observed that an injection of cysteamine before the irradiation strongly diminishes the ratio of damaged rectal and vaginal cells. A single injection of hCG (500 IU) to intact and hypophysectomized prepubertal rat increases plasma testosterone levels and decreases hCG receptors in the testicular Leydig cells for 4 to 5 days. In intact animals testosterone exhibit a rapid increase within hours and a delayed paradoxical increase between 60 and 96 hours. In hypophysectomized animals the first peak is not present. In both intact and hypophysectomized rats hCG receptors are almost undetectable between 10 and 96 hours following hCG injection. Since receptor occupancy cannot account for this phenomenon it is concluded that hCG is exerting a negative control on its own receptors.  相似文献

Cells secreting immunoglobulins without detectable antibody function arising after an injection of horseradish peroxidase were micromanipulated from the center of haemolytic plaques of Sheep red blood cells coated with anti-Ig antibodies. These cells were cultured individually for 48 hrs, with irradiated cells as feeder layer and in the presence of the immunogen and of LPS. It was shown that after this time 22% of the immunoglobulin-secreting cells had generated antiperoxidase antibody-secreting cells or were transformed into antibody-secreting cells.  相似文献

The changes in the labeling index (LI) with time after a single injection of tritiated thymidine (3HTdR) at each of 4 different times of the day have been studied. Slight differences occur in the shape of these LI curves, (e.g. in the timing of the peaks) depending on the time of day when the initial injection was given. Thus, the time of day influences not only the number of cells in DNA synthesis but also determines the subsequent behavior of the labeled cells. The curves show 3 distinct peaks from which estimates of the cell cycle time can be made. The technique permits the cell cycle time to be estimated. From the data as a whole a minimum cell cycle time of 90 h for basal cells in the epidermis on the back of a mouse is obtained. The technique also provides estimates for the duration of S + G2 + M which varies depending on the time of day that the label is given. The LI curves can best be understood if the basal layer is assumed to contain 2 cell populations with differing cell cycle times; one having a long cell cycle (about 180 h) but short S-phase and containing the stem cells, the other having a short cell cycle (about 90 h) and a long S-phase duration and consisting of transit cells.  相似文献

Cancer cell invasion involves the breaching of tissue barriers by cancer cells, and the subsequent infiltration of these cells throughout the surrounding tissue. In breast cancer, invasion at the molecular level requires the coordinated efforts of numerous processes within the cancer cell and its surroundings. Accumulation of genetic changes which impair the regulation of cell growth and death is generally accepted to initiate cancer. Loss of cell-adhesion molecules, resulting in a loss in tissue architecture, in parallel with matrix remodelling may also confer a motile or migratory advantage to breast cancer cells. The tumour microenvironment may further influence the behaviour of these cancer cells through expression of cytokines, growth factors, and proteases promoting chemotaxis and invasion. This review will attempt to summarise recent work on these fundamental processes influencing or facilitating breast cancer cell invasion. (Part of a Multi-author Review).  相似文献
