Abstract:
Carbon quantum dots(CQDs) have attracted great attention because of their excellent photoelectric properties, environmental friendliness, low cost, and easy availability. Nitrogen doped carbon quantum dots(N-CQDs) were prepared by one-step hydrothermal method using melamine and citric acid(CA) as raw materials. Their morphology, composition, and spectral properties were characterized with various technologies. The electrochemical luminescence(ECL) property of N-CQDs was investigated in detail. The result showed that the synthesized N-CQDs could emit strong and stable ECL signals in the presence of co-reactive potassium persulfate (K2S2O8). Further studies showed that the presence of gold nanoparticles(Au NPs)could cause the ECL signal of N-CQDs to be quenched, and the addition of glutathione(GSH) could restore the ECL signal. Based on this principle, the sensitive detection of GSH was achieved with a linear response range of 1.0×10-9 to 1.0×10-4 mol·L-1 and a detection limit of 8.0×10-10 mol·L-1. This strategy can also be used for the detection of other mercapto(-SH) containing biothiols.
