Streaming media technology is increasingly used in modern education. Firstly the network basis in the university Web is introduced, then it is related to the specific requirement of Video on demand system, and analyses the general function and structure of the server in video on demand system based-on streaming media technique through the study of the RTP/RTCP protocol. The basic realization scheme is explained.
